Dick Gumshoe is a kind and friendly detective who is eager to be useful in solving crimes. He can get very brash and overconfident when he thinks that he has a lead, which can lead to him jumping the gun and overlooking contradictions. It does not help that he is somewhat dim-witted and is often slow on the uptake. However, he has shown some selective signs of having some smarts, such as having built his own bug sweeper as a kid and knowing the scientific names of random plants. He is also known for being a bit of a sadsack, as the flaws in his detective work lead to his pay often being cut, and he seems to just be unlucky in general. He has gotten used to living in poor conditions and living on a diet that consists mostly of ramen noodles.
Gumshoe is also known for his strong sense of loyalty towards his friends and the prosecutors he serves, and especially towards Miles Edgeworth. Gumshoe tries to keep up to date on many of Edgeworth's problems and habits, and he will often go out of his way to help his boss. This is because he believes in the bond of trust between the police and prosecutors. The detective also tends to be a creature of habit, as he always wears the same trenchcoat, and he also has the "endearing character trait" (his own words) of referring to most people he interacts with as "pal".
POWERS/ABILITIES: He's an ordinary human for the most part. The closest thing to an ability he would have is police training. He has shown signs of being more physically capable than he looks, such as the time he held off Furio Tigre for Phoenix and Maya.
