Oh stop! You make me sound like some kinda Da Vinci... But y'know what? I guess I am pretty great!
[With that burst of confidence, he goes to open the door her!]
C'mon in, pal! And prepare to be wowwed!!
[Inside is a humble abode that definitely looks like it was recently cleaned, possibly in a hurry. And one bust has been set up by the door - one which bears the face and shape of one Blue Badger.]
I sure dudy, pal! That's none other than the Blue Badger. He's the mascot of my police department back home! I made a dancing stand-out of him once back home, so he was a natural choice for me to sculpt! He came out pretty good, right?
Thanks, pal! Of course, I got the advantage of having this earth magic to help me out. But I'm sure there's natural talent there too! But I don't limit myself to mascots. I've been practicing with a bunch of people around! Check it out, pal. The Gumshoe Gallery!
[He leads her towards one small room that has more sculpted busts! Some a little clumsily made and lopsided, but there's a mix of gelfling and human subjects, and some other inhabitants past and present, such as one Angel Devil.]
Uh-huh! That was Angel Devil... well, they took the name Mina. They lived with me for a while, after their old housemates disappeared. [He scratches at his head.] But, well, they eventually went home too.
[He manages a smile.]
Good thing I got this to act like a memento then, eh?
Oh yeah. That's kind of a rougher part of being here as long as I have. I've made all sorts of pals from other worlds, only for a lot of them to go poof over time. And you don't even get to say goodbye! That's why, at least it's got to have something to remember them by.
[that must be rough. Maria's never had much experience in the way of making many friends but the idea of having them, only to lose them...that's rough.]
Well, I know you're pretty unforgettable already. I probably won't be forgetting you any time soon.
[That does pull him out of his stupor and puts a goofy grin back on his face.]
Aw shucks, pal! You really know the nicest thing to say! I- I didn't think a lug like me was that memorable, pal! But hey, I don't think I could forget you either!
[if there is anything Maria is good at, it's trying to comfort others. and she thought it might be best for him to be comforted by compliment. seemed like the best idea.]
Don't sell yourself short! Look at all this. And you were very friendly. How can I forget that? But thank you. [she pats his arm.]
Would you really? [Maria is not used to someone being this openly nice to her. while it has become more of a commonplace thing since coming here, she still finds herself surprised by it each time. it's a nice offer and she nudges him playfully.] Did I make that much of an impression already? I'm just teasing. That's nice of you, though. I don't think anybody's ever offered me something that.
Really? I'm surprised no one ever has before! I- I'm sure a bust of you would look great. We might not've known each other for long, but you're such a nice person! I can make it happen sometime, pal.
Thanks, pal. I do try to be sociable! I'm sorry you people didn't talk to you a lot back home... I'm sure some customers just don't know how to be classy.
[He shakes his head, assuming this all has to do with her job as a dancer.]
Well, I personally thank you for it. You've made this nicer than anywhere else I've stayed. [though that's easy to do! but she was grateful for Gumshoe. a little bit of kindness did go a long way when it came to her.]
Aw, you think I'm pretty. [she teases him and then quickly moves past that. it feels a little mean to tease this poor guy like that. way too easy.]
You know, though, you might be able to help me. The guy I know from my home, he isn't very helpful. Not like you, what with you being here for so long. Think you could help fill me in on things?
Geesh, you charmer, you. [she elbows him playfully.]
I guess it's hard to know everything all at once, right? There's a lot going on. [she would jump onto any chance to insult James but that's not very cute of her to do. she'll play it safe.]
And when it's someone like you, you're just more in the know, yeah?

she looks to his cute little garden (and he's got hobbies!) before turning her attention to him with a smile.]
Lucky for me, right? I finally get to see the great artist.

Did you make this one?

You did. Way better than I could do. You typically do mascots and things like that.
