TNDG - Day 2, Team D Voting Discussion

[trenchdoting]

[At the heartwarming family sitcom set, Detective Gumshoe calls the team together. He has some papers in hand, having written down the facts so that he doesn't get anything wrong.]

Alright, team! It's time to talk about this whole voting process. I don't wanna lost a single person, so let's review the facts so that we know our options!

[He clears his throat and looks at his paper.]



As you can see on the screen, our team earned a few votes. Prosecutor Sahdmadhi and me each got one vote. And Corrin over there got a whopping three votes! Let's hear it for Corrin!

[Gumshoe gives a moment of enthusiastic applause, regardless of whether or not anyone joins in, before he continues.]

Doing the math, that means our team has five votes altogether. And there's eight of us! So even if we used each vote for a different teammate, that would still leave three people on our team without any votes. Seems pretty bleak, doesn't it? Well it doesn't have to be, pals!!

That's where Miss Washington's idea comes in. She pointed out that some of those other teams have more than enough points. Especially that Team E! They've got 15 votes between 8 people. If we can get just a few people from other teams like that one to use some of their votes for us, than that'll save us all!

I happen to have a friend on Team E, too. Miss Maya Fey! She has an extra vote, so I'll ask her to use it for one of us. And if anyone else knows people from other teams who can help us out, now's the time to speak up!

[He takes a breath and then sums it up.]

So basically, the three of us with votes have to settle on who we're voting for. Then, for whoever on our team doesn't get voted for, we'll try to get friends from other teams to use their votes for them! Got it?! Now let's all do our best and figure out how to get us all through this alive, pals!

...I know Sonozaki-san on Team B. We come from the same village.

[ Hanyuu shuffles awkwardly. She. Should probably at least warn her teammates of what Shion is capable of. That's a disaster waiting to happen. But she still feels bad talking about her friend behind her back, regardless of safety. ]

This is a bit off-topic, but it's very important, so I'd appreciate it you all would listen for a moment. [ .... ] Sonozaki-san is very ill, right now. She has a serious virus. It will not be contagious to you, but please be careful around her, regardless. It seems that she's recovered a little since her arrival here, but a complete relapse is possible.

Oh my gosh! Is she going to be okay?

I cannot say. As long as she keeps stress-free, she should be stable...but you can see how that will quickly become impossible.

[ death games and all ]

Yeah... This seems like it'll become a real stressful environment real fast.

The hosts said there are 49 votes in this round for 48 people, but they gave out 51. I counted. Do you think she'd want to go to the hotel?

I don't believe she would want to, no. Sonozaki-san is unaware that she is ill.

However, that may be the safer option, provided she has enough time to calm down while at the hotel itself.

[ don't want her flipping out at the new people who arrive later ]

...What about everyone else that would end up in the hotel? Wouldn't they be in the same danger?

[ an inclination of the head, sort of nodding ]

It is possible. There is no safe way to mediate this situation short of finding the medicine that will put her illness under control--and I have no idea how to acquire it, here.

What about our consolation prizes? If nobody has claimed theirs yet, we could try getting it that way.

I was unaware she was ill... How unfortunate. I shall pray to the Holy Mother for her recovery.

Could you elaborate on this virus? What are the signs and symptoms that would indicate a relapse?

[aumygoddess]

It's a bit of a lengthy explanation, so please bear with me for a moment.

[ She takes a deep breath. ]

It is called Hinamizawa Syndrome, as only occupants of our village develop it. Ah--I am immune, though, so please do not worry about that. [ just in case. ] It manifests in intense paranoia and hallucinations. She is not aware that she is ill, so please do not tell her for the time being, as it may amplify her delusions. Stress and anxiety makes it much worse.

The higher the severity of the illness, the more delusional the person becomes. At this point, she has convinced herself that she is her twin sister, Mion-san, who is likely dead. If you see her talking to herself as if she is two people, she is "communicating" with Mion-san.

As for signs...scratching of the throat. I do not know why, but victims of this disease often hallucinate that there are bugs crawling in their skin and attempt to violently claw them out. If she is put under too much stress, or suspects that anyone is working against her, specifically, she will be very inclined to violence both towards herself and the people around her.

W-what a horrifying illness! And to be unaware of it... Is there no cure that can help her?

[aumygoddess]

There is. It is called C-120, a special medication made from the antibodies in the blood of my family members. I do not know how to acquire it here, unfortunately...I suppose it could be made from my own blood, but I am not a scientist, and I would have no way to go about making it.

Yes, of course. Even if we had the medical expertise available here, there simply are none of the resources that might help her.

In any case, I will keep close watch on her for any signs of erratic behaviour. We cannot allow her or anyone else to come to harm.

[trenchdoting]

[Gumshoe listens carefully, and with concern.]

Yeah? Now that sounds troubling, pal! Should we find medical attention for her?!

[aumygoddess]

There is only one treatment for her illness, and I do not know how to find it, here. Otherwise...the only way to help patients is to put them into medically-induced comas for an indefinite period of time.

[trenchdoting]

A coma?! Now that sound serious!! [And that would definitely make the game trickier.]

But- but it might not be active, right pal?!

[aumygoddess]

It is certainly active, albeit at a more manageable level than before. Presently, she has deluded herself into believing that she is "Mion", her twin sister, who has died.

[trenchdoting]

Whoa... That's dark stuff. [It's not the first time he's encountered someone posing as a dead sister, either.]

So then we'll have to be careful with her!

[aumygoddess]

[ a nod ]

Please, try to act as though I haven't told you any of this. She may think we are conspiring against her, due to her paranoia.

[ Well I mean. They kind of are. But she'll think it's the bad kind of conspiring. ]

And if it is not too difficult, either...please just refer to her as Mion, for now. I will ask the hosts if there is some way I can work for her medication, tomorrow, so for the sake of her stability, we should try to keep her stress levels low.

This is not a joking matter. Please do not take it so lightly.

[ Hanyuu forces herself to breathe through her nose, taking a moment to calm herself. A virus called love? Really? ]

Perhaps you are. But I am speaking of a very real, very lethal pathogen. Sonozaki-san is physically sick.

...I see. And the situation with the young blonde-haired boy is irrelevant...?

[ Her eyes widen. ]

...she told you about Satoshi-san, then.

He isn't irrelevant, no, but her fixation on him is making her illness far worse.
